Original by Motul “Malles Moto”.

The “Original by Motul” category corresponds to the one previously titled “Malles Motos”.Unassisted motorcycle and quad riders without any registered companions in assistance or media are eligible for this category.Pilots in this category must adhere to a specific regulation; failure to comply results in exclusion from the category. This category is reserved for the first 30 registered in this category. Original by Motul, the toughest category of the Dakar Since the 2020 Dakar Rally, the category once called “Malles Moto” has been rebranded as “Original by Motul” for motorcycle and quad riders. A name that undoubtedly refers to the origins of the Dakar rally in the late 1970s. It was then, in 1978 when the pioneer Thierry Sabine -D.E.P.P.- conceived a race with marked adventure overtones, in which the riders had to take their vehicles, motorcycles, and cars, from Paris to Dakar with no more logistics, for many of the riders, than what they could carry on their own motorcycles -they carried with their spare parts, tools, gasoline, and even the tent-. The philosophy persists in the Original by Motul category, arguably Dakar’s toughest, requiring participants to compete without technical assistance, managing maintenance, repairs, and spare parts themselves. The organization supplied the riders with a “trunk” to store spare parts, wheels, tires, and personal belongings. They transported these items between stages and provided tools and workspace for bike maintenance. The ‘Male Competitors can pack a Malle (trunk) that the organizers will transport to each bivouac. The trunk must contain their spare parts, tools and equipment, and any necessary personal effects. There are restrictions on the maximum dimensions of the trunk. The organizers will also transport a spare headlamp, a set of wheels and tires, a tent, and a travel bag.Competitors must also carry out repairs on their own vehicles in Dakar Rally 2021. The challenge Despite the abundance of kit, life for Original by Motul riders is far from easy. Every day, riders must prepare their bike for the next stage without outside help. This alone can take a few hours, depending on the condition of the bike. Riders must also prepare their own road books before each stage. While a communal canteen is available for eating, it lacks the team of nutritionists found with factory-backed participants. Note that the competitor must do all of this after each stage, which in itself can last many grueling hours. After all this, cyclists need enough sleep to be ready for the next stage and it is not uncommon for competitors to survive on only two to three hours of sleep every day, for two weeks! | Visit Us | How does an automatic transmission motorbike work? | Our website

Moreover, this can have a positive impact on mental health. A 15 minutes awe walk seeking out impressive environments in nature or urban settings, walking mindfully, varying routes and of course, turning off the phone and watches for a digital detox, will boost your positive emotions such as gratitude, compassion, and a growing sense of wonder and appreciation for the world.   A retreat on thin places  Thin places are those between this and otherworldly places. Is the threshold where two worlds merge and become one. Thin places are not perceived with the five senses, experiencing them goes beyond those limits. Those highly energetic shrines that our ancestors used to call “huacas” are the mountains, waterfalls, springs, and streams,  those magical places where the locals went to reconnect with the unknown and renew spirituality.   Spa Time  By the end of a long day, or a long time of non-stop workaholism, the best thing to do is shut the world off and let the warm water let the day draw more slowly to a close. The best place to enjoy a complete rest of body and soul would be a special place, a place of tranquility. Of course, rest and re-energize in relaxation oases—indoor and outdoor pools, hot springs, saunas, and spa suites—bringing quietness to our noisy world. Let time stand still for you for a moment, for a precious instant.   Ecuadorian Hot Springs The Andean mountain range divides Ecuador north to south and lies along the Pacific side of the Ring of Fire. This has resulted in prolific volcanic activity and natural hot springs that have bathed locals and visitors since ancient times. So, with hot springs comes the mineral soils which have the power to cure and re-energize the body. The mineral properties, used since Inca times, were frequented by “chasquis” postmen runners for recovery after long walks. Hot springs in Carchi  Heated by the volcanic activity of the Chiles Volcano, there are several sites in the province that will allow you to relax and enjoy spectacular Andean landscapes while bathing in volcanic water and vapor. Tufiño waters are whitish-yellowish and reach up to 104 °F. In Chabaya they are ferruginous, with a temperature of 77 °F. In San Blas, El Angel is greenish and yellow, with a temperature of 68 °F. Inside Gruta de la Paz, a cave sanctuary, springs reach 104°F, offering a unique religious and thermal experience. Papallacta and Oyacachi Hot Springs  At 3,250 meters above sea level, Papallacta town stands out for its hot springs and spas. Together with Oyacachi, both are located in the Cayambe – Coca Ecological Reserve. Relax in thermal waters, reaching up to 104°F, amidst Andean moors and highland landscapes, the perfect retreat. Chachimbiro Hot Springs  In Urcuquí you’ll find the Cahchimbiro hot springs. The volcanically heated water seeps through fractured rock spaces or geological faults from the Chachimbiro volcano. Also, the temperature goes between 86 and 131 °F. It is the best resting space to enjoy the view of the Cotacachi volcano and Yanahurco hill.   Baños de Agua Santa Hot Springs  “Baños de Agua Santa” stands for “Holy water baths” in Spanish, and it was named so for the richness of its thermal waters that come from the Tungurahua volcano and reach a temperature of 71,6 °f. In addition, this area holds the largest thermal complex in the country and its medicinal properties are world-class and famous. There are several thermal pool complexes among them: Las Termas del Salado, La Virgen, Santa Ana, Cunuyacu, and Las Modernas Complex, for recreation, leisure and rest; this is combined with the offer of adventure activities.   | Visit Us | Detox and energize in Ecuador | Our website

Inti Raymi: A festival to thank the Sun and Mother Earth.

Inti Raymi is a festival to thank the Sun and Mother Earth. Every year, the Kichwa people from Ecuador celebrate Inti Raymi (Feast of the Sun). The popular Andean custom. Activities Today, we share details of this festivity, gathering yearly to thank the Sun and Pachamama for our sustenance. In addition, the season shows us the cycle change with the beginning of the harvests. June 21st marks the main celebration day, coinciding with the sun’s closest point to Earth, leading to shortest day. Music, dance, and ritual acts fill ceremonial sites along the inter-Andean alley, where gods’ and nature’s energies converge, empowering celebrants. Traditionally on these dates, several communities of the Andes gathered and prepared various activities and rituals to honor Taita Inti, an example is Cotacachi where the spiritual and symbolic ritual of the taking of the square, summoning dancers and musicians, who spun in circles with strength and courage to keep the mother earth awake, and that it receives the offerings of human beings. Another important activity on this date is the purification and energy renewal bath, led by shamans. Inti Raymi also includes the traditional pampamesa, an ancestral ritual where typical Andean foods are shared, such as corn, potatoes, melloco, beans, and others, combined with different kinds of meat, especially guinea pig. So, the meal reflects the community´s brotherhood,  as the food is placed on a tablecloth on the floor. Everyone eats and enjoys this moment and of course the “chicha”, a traditional indigenous beverage. Diablo Huma, represents the connection with the cosmos, in the festival of the Sun. Main reason The festival has a main reason, the Aya Uma (Devil’s Head) or Diablo Huma. Which has an important spiritual meaning for the indigenous communities. Moreover, it congregate in sacred places to thank the Pachamama for the harvests. On this special date, the festival welcomes the cosmic order, aiding in banishing other demons that haunt the crops. Inti Raymi symbolizes the fusion of Andean and Western cultures, with Aya Uma as a prime example. The name of the devil was assigned in the process of the Spanish conquest to show fear in the culture. For celebrating festivities in honor of nature’s gods of nature such as the Sun, the Moon, and the Pachamama. So, over time his name was transmitted throughout the centuries as Diablo Huma. However, its meaning transcends, it comes from the Spanish religion because its function on the day of maximum celebration. Is to gather good energy and connection between the cosmos and earthly life. Part of purifying and renewing baths beneath Andean waterfalls, gaining spiritual power from nature to combat adverse energies. In the festival, the Devil Huma dances on three occasions to connect with the Earth, Sun, and Moon. Additionally, the representative becomes a spiritual being, shattering myths to embody deities’ energies and transcend reality. His outfit consists of a colorful mask and two faces. Conclusion It depicts the cosmos’ duality—good and evil, sun and moon, day and night, future and present, north and south. Also, his hair symbolizes wisdom and cornflower. Historical documents state that his mask features four types of ears, representing the four directions and elements: air, water, fire, and earth. His attire consists of a whip, a symbol of power and authority. He wears a zamarro, a garment of various animal skins, to lead participants in the Inti Raymi festival. In certain indigenous communities, the Diablo Huma dances to drum beats, guitars, and indigenous women’s songs while playing wind instruments. How to choose your motorcycle boots?

Protecting your legs is essential for a safe ride, follow these tips in order to choose the right boots, depending on the type of motorcycle and use that you will have. And especially if you are planning a tour in South America. (How to choose your motorcycle boots?) Motorcyclists are always at the forefront of the best equipment; this is something in which no expense should be spared. Especially considering that your life depends on it, in the event of an accident. Choosing the right boots to ride your motorcycle is just as important as wearing a helmet, jacket, gloves, and other protective gear. In addition, ensuring good care of these elements is as necessary as the maintenance of your motorcycle. There are many different kinds of boots you can purchase. These should be chosen depending on the purpose. Riding a small scooter in the city is not the same as riding a big trail motorcycle off-road. This is specific for each situation, so Ecuador Bike Rental by Sleipner will do its best to help you. Urban boots For touring on a motorcycle around a city, is necessary to use light and comfortable footwear, besides the ride, you will need to walk around for a while. Anyhow it is better to use comfortable boots that protect the ankles, not too tall, up to your knees. We recommend leather ones similar to those used in motor racing, but with laces, which will also match better with the urban outfits. We can also find completely smooth models without laces, which go unnoticed while performing tasks away from the motorcycle. Touring boots   For touring and road riding, you will need more protection, should wear leather boots with a medium length that protect the ankle and shin areas well. They must be comfortable, bearing in mind that we may spend many hours wearing them and that we may be walking when we get off the motorcycle. Likewise, they must have some kind of membrane that makes them waterproof and thus keep our feet dry in case we ride in the rain, cross a river, etc. Also protection for the gearshift on the left foot. Additionally, they’re typically black to camouflage stains like grease or road marks, maintaining a clean appearance. Some of them help to keep you warm in cold weather. Depending on preference, they may feature side zippers and Velcro fasteners on the upper part to ensure proper calf adjustment. Sport boots Designed for fast sporty driving, mainly on asphalt roads or tracks. They are usually of medium height and have a variety of strong plastic materials for protection. Additionally, they feature interchangeable sliders near the toecaps to enhance durability during fast cornering and potential asphalt friction. Usually, look and feel very rigid against lateral movements to offer higher protection, allowing slight movement, up and down to the ankles for gear change and rear brake, they are not particularly comfortable or suitable for walking but adequate once you get off the bike. In addition, their leather is usually brightly colored to match the decoration of the motorcycle and/or the rider’s other equipment. The top-of-the-range ones may include inside a boot with rigid elements made of fiber to increase even more the protection against possible falls. Donning and doffing them takes time due to secure fasteners, ensuring the boots stay put during high-speed falls. Some boots combine zippers with laces, Velcro, and ratchet straps. Off-road boots There is a difference between off-road and motocross, enduro, and supermotard boots, but nowadays, manufacturers have managed to use the same kinds for all these specialties. Even so, there are still some old-fashioned models, with smooth soles for motocross and supermotard, and soles with a marked pattern in the case of enduro. However, modern designs use striped soles that provide the grip required to place your feet on the ground, and the necessary sliding in motocross and supermotard for “resting” your feet on the curves. At the same time, the central part of the soles is interchangeable, as it is an area that degrades more frequently than the rest due to its friction with the foot pegs (especially in motocross). Named “super high cane,” field boots are the most robust, heavy, and offer superior protection for feet and lower legs. While their upper part’s diameter may appear excessive, once worn, they blend well with the equipment, particularly orthopedic knee pads. In addition to Velcro, they are fastened with four hooks. This boot type is utilized on dirt tracks, featuring a metal sole on the left foot for consistent ground friction. Some manufacturers have developed specific models for this specialty, enabling users to replace just the boot sole. Trail boots The trail is a booming segment and various manufacturers have devoted special attention to developing specific boots for this segment. It can be said that they are a combination of touring and off-road boots. Made of thick leather and durable plastics, with two or three hooks for quick closure, available in low or high styles. Both provide solid off-road protection, less bulky than field boots, prioritizing comfort for prolonged road use. Custom boots These boots feature a traditional design, resembling country boots, commonly worn for horseback riding and other outdoor activities. Some of them look very similar to “street” boots and others have high heels. It is also common to find them with eye-catching buckles with ribbons and other decorative elements. Also some with military-inspired designs. You can find a wide variety of colors, shades, and heights. | Visit Us | How to choose your motorcycle boots? | Our website

Most Essential Things You Need on a Motorcycle Tour

1 1) First of all, the route of the trip must be analyzed. Planning the route well is crucial, whether it’s a quick trip or an extended journey spanning several days. You must analyze the roads, know their condition, black spots, and, of course, the speed cameras so that you don’t get an unpleasant surprise in the form of a fine. It is also important to know the weather information that we are going to find during the journey, as this will affect the way we drive. (Most Essential Things You Need on a Motorcycle Tour ) 2 Obviously, depending on the model of bike you have, you will make one type of trip or another. Trail bike riders will opt to incorporate some kind of forest track to take advantage of the offroad characteristics of their bike, while naked, touring or RR road bike riders will look for a route with as many curves as possible. 3 Then it’s time to talk about bike set-up. When tackling a trip of this kind, it is essential that the bike is in perfect condition. Based on experience, motorcyclists prioritize bike maintenance, checking tire pressure every 15 days for safety and performance. It is therefore important to check the condition of the tires first. Just as you wouldn’t walk in broken shoes, riding a motorbike with bad tires is unsafe and unacceptable. Motorbike tires evolved with varying hardness across the width to match different riding styles in recent years. The tire’s center is harder than the sidewalls, ensuring durability on highways and safety on corners with softer compounds. 4 The second safety element to check before traveling by motorbike is the braking system. On motorbikes, it is very easy to carry out a visual check to check whether the brake pads are in good or bad condition, and the brake discs should also be checked to make sure they are not bent and cause unwanted vibrations when the brakes are activated. (What do I have to take into account when traveling by motorbike?) 5 The suspension system should also be checked. Regularly check fork for oil leaks and inspect suspension oil; degradation affects bike’s performance over time. 6 Now, it’s the engine’s turn. With scheduled maintenance up to date, ensure no oil or liquid leaks hinder maintenance. The filters should also be checked and replaced if necessary due to mileage or time. 7 As for the bike’s electrical system, it is essential to check all the bike’s lights and check the battery. 8 Once the main elements have been checked and brought up to date, the only thing left to do is to prepare the motorbike by fitting the panniers or panniers, a task for which we must ensure that the fastening systems are correctly positioned. Luggage mustn’t protrude from the front, extending only 0.50 meters from the rear and 0.25 from each side. In conclusion Our purpose is that you live on board the best motorcycle rentals. An experience that you will never forget. We love what we do and enjoy the adventure with you. Recognized by the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador with the `Distinction Q¨ to the highest quality standard in tourist service, Ecuador Bike Rental by Sleipner was created to show people around the world how much joy there is to ride a motorcycle in a unique country. Novice or expert, there is an adventurous spirit, a unique free spirit that takes you to live unforgettable experiences when you feel the engine, the road, people you meet, flavors, landscapes, and cultures in the middle of the world. Motorcycle airbags are a vital safety element.

Essential in MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 since 2018, everything suggests that, in the near future, airbags recommended for off-track motorcycle riding will also be available. (Motorcycle airbags are a vital safety element) More motorcyclists adopt airbag-equipped gear, with an expanding roster of brands dedicated to advancing this promising safety system. The variety of airbag systems on the market is growing, whether incorporated into a suit, jacket, or leather vest. Initially developed exclusively for use in electric circuits, their prices were very high. However, they have gradually evolved to become simpler, allowing for everyday use without the need to spend an exorbitant amount of money on them. For these reasons, there have been a lot of talks lately about motorcycle airbags, and although there is still a long way to go for the use of this technology to become widespread, several organizations are working on it to promote its use.In fact, several motorcyclists’ associations around the world have reported that, although it is not mandatory, it is worth promoting the use of airbags among motorcyclists. Also in Spain, the platform VIVE LA MOTO started a few months ago the campaign #PonteUnAirbag with a video in which some MotoGP riders recommended the use of airbags outside the circuits. (Motorcycle airbags are a vital safety element) How do airbags work? Although one version of the Honda GL1800 Gold has been equipped with an airbag system as standard equipment and some helmets also have a small airbag to protect the wearer’s neck area, when The term “airbag” for motorcyclists refers to a “bag” in the form of a jacket that inflates in the event of a fall or crash and primarily protects the neck, shoulders, chest, and back. MotoGP-honed technology, refined over decades, now essential for riders across all three categories of motorcycle racing. This airbag type isn’t definitive. Its protection varies by fall type and speed. However, impact energy can decrease by 90%. This reduction could prevent injuries and save lives. During the #PonteUnAirbag campaign presentation, data revealed motorcycle accident deaths. Thoracic trauma causes 35% of fatalities. The protection level from an airbag resembles that of a helmet. Functions As a rule, such a device includes an activation system with GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope, along with the necessary battery and inflation mechanism, which can be equipped with one or even two compressed air cylinders in addition to the “bag” that inflates. The activation system can be mechanical or electronic. The former attaches to the motorcycle by means of a belt and activates when detached from it. The second is independent and has a series of sensors that detect sudden changes in the rider’s position. Both activate a striker that pierces the compressed air bottle, which is capable of inflating the entire “bag” in about 25 milliseconds (0.025 seconds). In the event of an impact, the vest distributes the generated energy throughout, reducing the possibility of trauma. Dainese, a pioneer with 25+ years in this field, notes Smart Jacket’s back protection equals seven back protectors combined. Once inflated, the airbag loses pressure after a few seconds. The manufacturer requires servicing for “bag” replacement, air bottle replacement, and repair of any other damages incurred. How much does an airbag cost? About the prices of motorcycle airbags, it depends a lot on the type and brand. In general, vests – which can be worn over or under the jacket – range from 400 to 600 euros. For a jacket or leather suit with an airbag, the mentioned amount must be added to their usual cost. A leather or Cordura jacket (with an airbag) can cost between 1,500 and 2,000 euros. Opting for a motorcycle suit with an airbag may exceed 1,000 euros due to its sophisticated technology. Hence, the price of a good suit with an airbag can be close to 3,000 euros.   Text Credits: Box Repsol | Visit Us | Motorcycle airbags are a vital safety element. | Our website

Guide to travel by motorcycle in South America

If you want to be impressed by spectacular landscapes, you can not miss the most amazing roads to travel by motorcycle in South America. You will not regret it! ( GUIDE TO TRAVEL BY MOTORCYCLE IN SOUTH AMERICA ) Without a doubt, a motorcycle tour in South America is one of the best experiences every motorcyclist can have, and from the first kilometer to the last, it is a spectacular trip. We know this and that is why in Ecuador Bike Rental, we wanted to prepare a complete guide on motorcycle travel in South America that will be of great help if you are seriously considering the possibility of making this tour. There are so many people who have ventured into going around the world by motorcycle without having been before to South America, one of the most beautiful and most traveled continents by motorcycle. This is a ride we guarantee you won’t regret. It’ll be one of the best experiences of your life. Pay attention, as by the end, you’ll be eager for this trip. To travel by motorcycle in South America, what do I need? No doubt, to enjoy it to the fullest it is important that you meet a wide range of indispensable requirements. We show you the most important ones: – Motorcycle in perfect condition. Undoubtedly the most important thing on a motorcycle trip anywhere is to have a motorcycle that is not only comfortable but also in perfect condition to be able to meet the requirements of the trip without any problem. Therefore, it is essential that, before starting your trip, you take the motorcycle with which you are going to travel through South America to your trusted workshop, to check it, verify that it is in perfect condition and repair any faults it may have. For bike modifications, it’s best to do them near home for easier access to spares and trusted hand labor. – Documents. As far as documentation is concerned, it is essential to have a passport. In addition, you will need to have a motorcycle driver’s license, which is absolutely mandatory. We also recommend that, before starting your trip, you contact the different embassies of the countries where you are going to go to find out if you need some kind of documentation or a special visa because the requirements change depending on the country of origin of the visitor. Although, if you are from Canada, USA, Latin America or Europe you do not need more paperwork than your passport. Another thing worth noting is the paperwork that needs to be done at every country´s border. Most countries in South America request you to purchase a SOAT (road insurance), which is not expensive (around USD 70 per visiting month, depending on where you are). This is mandatory at least for Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina. Besides the SOAT, arrange your migration papers and temporary entrance for your motorcycle at customs. Usually, all these three things can be done in offices one near the other. And depending on which border you are crossing, the wait time can be as short as 5 minutes. Local knowledge prevails as it’s always the most up-to-date. For instance, there are some borders where SOAT can’t be easily purchased, like Deshaguadero, between Bolivia and Peru, near Puno. And despite this issue, it’s no excuse for local authorities to give you some problems if you get stopped. So much as to put your motorcycle away. Remember, SOAT can be purchased mainly at the borders. Once inland, is much more complicated. Motorcycle tours in South America Obviously, there is not a single motorcycle route in South America. In fact, there are so many options you won’t know which to choose, as each offers something different for every rider’s preference. With this in mind, from Ecuador Bike Rental we are going to share with you some of the routes that we like the most to ride a motorcycle on the continent, which will give you the chance to admire breathtaking landscapes: Route 40 Route 40 is perhaps the most famous route in South America, which crosses the entire continent from north to south, and from south to north. It is a mythical route among bikers, and to travel it is an authentic paradise, given its high degree of adventure and its spectacular landscapes. Carretera Austral The Carretera Austral is identified by the fact that it runs through Chilean Patagonia in its entirety. It consists of a narrow road with a spectacular view, so riding along it will be immemorial. We recommend crossing between Chile and Argentina to appreciate the highlights of both countries to the fullest. The road to the end of the world There is also the route to the end of the world, which consists of crossing all of Tierra del Fuego, from the Chilean side to the Argentinean side, and we consider it one of the most recommended routes of the motorcycle trip through South America. Here you have to keep in mind that the Argentinean side is the on-road way, but the Chilean side is off-road, it will depend on the type of adventure you are looking for so you can decide which way to go. Of course, on both sides, you will enjoy magical landscapes. Ruta de los Lagos, Bolivia. In Bolivia, you will find this iconic and famous road, which does not offer any type of service along its route, so it is essential to be well prepared to travel it, since you will not find gas stations, workshops, restaurants, services, etc. Here the GPS will become your best ally. But that will not deprive you of the beautiful Latin American landscapes. 7 Lakes Road. 7 Lakes Road is located in Argentina and specifically starts from the Lanin Volcano, towards Bariloche and El Bolson. Epic, we must add that it is perfectly maintained countryside, so you don’t have to worry about it. Totally recommended. Jama Pass. One of our favorites on our motorcycle trip

How does an automatic transmission motorbike work?

Lately, there has been a lot of talk about motorcycles with automatic transmission, but currently, Honda is the only brand that sells models with automatic transmission. Furthermore, various configurations and displacements of engines incorporate it, propelling motorcycles of diverse natures. ( How does an automatic transmission motorbike work ). Automatic transmissions, commonplace in cars for nearly a century, are less common in the motorcycle industry. Bikes’ small size and light weight make them unsuitable for the typically bulkier and heavier automatic transmissions. While common in motorcycles, variable-pitch and centrifugal transmissions aren’t classified as automatics due to their single-speed nature and lack of gearboxes. The application of CVTs, known for their simplicity and practicality, is limited in high-performance motorcycles. Electric motorcycles Today, electric motorcycles are also proliferating, with most featuring single-speed transmissions and no clutch, as the permanent magnet motor drives directly. On the other hand, there have been some automatic motorcycles with combustion engines with gearboxes and electrohydraulically operated clutch, but they have not enjoyed much success, nor have they lasted a long time.   In 2010, however, everything changed with the introduction of the Honda VFR1200F, a model developed by the Japanese giant in two versions. One model features a conventional six-speed transmission. While the other incorporates a six-speed dual-clutch transmission with electro-hydraulic control—a system Honda dared to include. This technology, known as DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), is 12 years old and was also installed on the now-extinct VFR1200F, VFR1200X Crosstourer, NC700S/X, Integra, and NM4-01 Vultus. Today, we find it on models like the CRF1100L Africa Twin, X-ADV, NC750X, CMX1100 Rebel, GL1800 Gold Wing, and the new NT1100. Thus, we can appreciate Honda’s advanced automatic transmission system across various motorcycle types and engine configurations. How does the dual-clutch work? DCT is a system that automates the use of gearboxes and clutches. Its main feature: two clutches on separate shafts, one sliding within the other, offering distinct gear engagement. Double shaft, the first clutch is connected to the odd gear, while the second clutch is connected to the even gear. Compared to a conventional gearbox, this system also differs in the absence of a clutch and caliper. Their benefits include user-friendly shifting, simplified operation, and enhanced comfort by reducing the rider’s tasks during driving. The DCT also ensures a more effective transmission, as it is responsible for keeping the engine engaged in optimal conditions. Another notable feature distinguishing it from the aforementioned CVT is the ability to use engine braking during cornering. It is also worth noting that you can choose from three powertrain modes to suit different driving styles. As a result, the DCT system has two autopilot modes (Drive and Sport), as well as a sequential mode. In the automatic modes, the gearbox is “intelligently” activated in both upshift and downshift. However, in sequential mode, the driver manually shifts gears using buttons on the left side of the steering wheel. In drive mode, the engine operates at low revs for comfort, fuel efficiency, and is ideal for highway driving. In Sport mode, shifting occurs as engine speed increases, which means you’ll have a happier drive. The sequential mode is for sporty driving, allowing the driver to choose when to upshift or downshift. Choose between functions  To choose between different functions, the Drive and Sport automatic mode buttons are located on the right handle. Also on the right edge, there is a switch that allows us to choose the automatic or sequential mode.     The operation is simple. After starting the engine and releasing the parking brake, shift from neutral to gear by pressing the right-side button. Once the indicator display confirms the selected shift mode, simply press the accelerator pedal to begin driving. In addition, it is possible to switch to one of the automatic modes and upshift or downshift at the driver’s request using the buttons on the left, thus turning with the engine at low revs or using the Dynamic.   On the other hand, while in the two automatic modes we will never reach the ignition cut-off. As the system always upshifts before or does not allow downshifting, in the sequential mode it is possible because it is the driver himself who decides when to shift. DCT engines provide multiple riding modes, including off-road settings on models like the Africa Twin and X-ADV. They also coordinate with driving aids like traction control or hill start assist. Over the years, Honda has refined the system, resulting in faster and smoother gear changes with each iteration. Adapted to the bike’s purpose, whether for touring, trail riding, utility, or maxi-scooter applications. | Visit Us | How does an automatic transmission motorbike work? | Our website
