Awe Walking

Awe walks are strolls in which you shift your attention outward, focusing on the wonder of nature to let inward thinking shut down for a while. Moreover, this can have a positive impact on mental health. A 15 minutes awe walk seeking out impressive environments in nature or urban settings, walking mindfully, varying routes and of course, turning off the phone and watches for a digital detox, will boost your positive emotions such as gratitude, compassion, and a growing sense of wonder and appreciation for the world.

A retreat on thin places

Thin places are those between this and otherworldly places. Is the threshold where two worlds merge and become one. Thin places are not perceived with the five senses, experiencing them goes beyond those limits. Those highly energetic shrines that our ancestors used to call “huacas” are the mountains, waterfalls, springs, and streams,  those magical places where the locals went to reconnect with the unknown and renew spirituality.

Spa Time

By the end of a long day, or a long time of non-stop workaholism, the best thing to do is shut the world off and let the warm water let the day draw more slowly to a close. The best place to enjoy a complete rest of body and soul would be a special place, a place of tranquility. Of course, rest and re-energize in relaxation oases—indoor and outdoor pools, hot springs, saunas, and spa suites—bringing quietness to our noisy world. Let time stand still for you for a moment, for a precious instant.

Ecuadorian Hot Springs

The Andean mountain range divides Ecuador north to south and lies along the Pacific side of the Ring of Fire. This has resulted in prolific volcanic activity and natural hot springs that have bathed locals and visitors since ancient times. So, with hot springs comes the mineral soils which have the power to cure and re-energize the body. The mineral properties, used since Inca times, were frequented by “chasquis” postmen runners for recovery after long walks.

Hot springs in Carchi

Heated by the volcanic activity of the Chiles Volcano, there are several sites in the province that will allow you to relax and enjoy spectacular Andean landscapes while bathing in volcanic water and vapor. Tufiño waters are whitish-yellowish and reach up to 104 °F. In Chabaya they are ferruginous, with a temperature of 77 °F. In San Blas, El Angel is greenish and yellow, with a temperature of 68 °F. Inside Gruta de la Paz, a cave sanctuary, springs reach 104°F, offering a unique religious and thermal experience.

Papallacta and Oyacachi Hot Springs

At 3,250 meters above sea level, Papallacta town stands out for its hot springs and spas. Together with Oyacachi, both are located in the Cayambe – Coca Ecological Reserve. Relax in thermal waters, reaching up to 104°F, amidst Andean moors and highland landscapes, the perfect retreat.

Chachimbiro Hot Springs

In Urcuquí you’ll find the Cahchimbiro hot springs. The volcanically heated water seeps through fractured rock spaces or geological faults from the Chachimbiro volcano. Also, the temperature goes between 86 and 131 °F. It is the best resting space to enjoy the view of the Cotacachi volcano and Yanahurco hill.

Baños de Agua Santa Hot Springs

“Baños de Agua Santa” stands for “Holy water baths” in Spanish, and it was named so for the richness of its thermal waters that come from the Tungurahua volcano and reach a temperature of 71,6 °f. In addition, this area holds the largest thermal complex in the country and its medicinal properties are world-class and famous. There are several thermal pool complexes among them: Las Termas del Salado, La Virgen, Santa Ana, Cunuyacu, and Las Modernas Complex, for recreation, leisure and rest; this is combined with the offer of adventure activities.
