    15. What units does Ecuador work with?

Ecuador is a bit of a mix. When it comes to speed and distances, metric systems are used (kilometers). And when it comes to volume and sometimes weight, english system is the most common use (US gallon, lbs.) So yes, gas here is cheap as heck, so don't be confused, you are actually paying for gallons.

Of course. We can store your belongings in a secure place until your return. Should the need arise for us to keep some of your things a bit longer until your return from the rest of your stay in Ecuador, i.e: helmet, boots, etc… we can take care of them for you.

    23. Can Ecuador Bike Rental help me booking hotels and attractions along with my rental?

    26. How are mechanical break downs handled?

Given the type of bikes and the condition we keep them at all times, the chance of a breakdown is very unlikely. However, at Ecuador Bike Rental we will have you monitored. If we see that something has happened we will get a hold of you. You can contact us on our emergency phone line given to you at the moment of rental. There is also the use of the panic button in worse case scenario. At this point, we will help you to troubleshoot the problem and if there is no solution, we can rush you a spare bike while we take care of the other one. Remember, that a flat tire or events like wearing out the battery due to miss use are not considered a breakdown.

    27. Are the saddlebags and storage on motorcycle lockable?

Some bike models will have hard side cases and top cases with their own locks installed. In case of soft waterproof saddlebags, we suggest you to have them dismounted from the bike using their quick release velcro system when you will stay over night. We also suggest you to have your valuables and IDs in the tank bag, also available for rent, so you can take it out in case of a quick stop.

    28. How about insurance?

The rental includes a local third party insurance (SPPAT) ready for the bike. It also includes medical insurance in case of a collision with another vehicle.

We do however, recommend you to a travel insurance plan to cover any trip cancellation or further medical expenses.

All of our bikes have mechanical features to reduce the damage to them, and they are all insured by us. Depending your motorcycle, there will be an amount being held back to cover a deposit, which will be released once the bike has been returned.

    29. Am I able to take my rental across international borders?

You may, however you need to let us know that this is your plan to prepare the needed paperwork so you can take the bike out of the border.

    30. My first time in a new country, is it possible to pick up my rentals outside of the city?

Of course. It can be stressful to start your journey in the middle of a traffic you are not used to. Stop signs and traffic lights can mislead your peers and you may end up losing each other. Hence, when we'll be discussing your final details, you can collect the motorcycle from one of our locations outside of town in the intersection with the main routes that will take you north, south, east or west.

    31. Can you tell me a bit more about the situation in Ecuador? How safe is it?

Ecuador, despite some Hollywood movies showing the opposite, its a pretty safe country. We have enjoyed about 10 years strike-free government, the people in the country are not aggressive, specially with tourists as most of them depend on tourism to live. Traffic rules are the same as in the United States, with slight few changes.

If you’re walking on your own, its very unlikely that something could occur, however, as a precaution try to avoid walking on your own after bars are closed. Specially in the big cities.

    32. Do you charge per day rented or is it 24 hours?

Its a 24 hour rental. No surprises there.
